The Korean research team that stirred up the world with a paper claiming to have developed a 'room-temperature, atmospheric-pressure superconductor' has already applied for four related patents with the Korean Intellectual Property Office. Among these, one has already been approved and granted. The team applied for four patents related to superconductors from July 2020 to August last year, with the first one already having completed the review process and granted intellectual property rights. In their application, the team explained the manufacturing method of a low-resistance ceramic compound containing a superconductor, stating that "it can be seen that there exists a superconducting phase with a critical temperature of about 40 degrees." The team also applied for a trademark for 'LK-99' last April.
'상온 상압 초전도체'를 개발했다는 논문을 발표하며 전 세계의 주목을 받은 국내 연구진이 이미 특허청에 관련 특허 4건을 신청한 것으로 확인됐다. 이 중 1건은 이미 승인을 받아 특허권이 발생한 상태다. 이 연구진은 2020년 7월부터 지난해 8월까지 초전도체와 관련해 4건의 특허를 신청했으며, 이 중 가장 처음 신청한 특허는 이미 심사가 완료돼 지적재산권이 발생했다. 연구소는 초전도체를 포함한 저저항 세라믹화합물의 제조방법을 설명한 뒤 "임계온도가 약 40도 정도인 초전도상이 존재한다는 것을 알 수 있다"고 밝혔다. 이 연구소는 지난 4월에도 'LK-99'라는 이름의 상표권을 출원했다.
