Google has begun testing a new AI Mode in Search with its employees, powered by Gemini 2.0. This feature aims to handle complex, exploratory questions that traditional search results cannot effectively address. The AI Mode appears as a new option alongside existing filters and provides a chatbot-like interface that allows for follow-up questions. The interface organizes information with easy-to-digest breakdowns and includes links to explore web content. Currently being tested with US Google employees, CEO Sundar Pichai suggests this innovation could launch in 2025.
