Facebook parent company MetaPlatform has sold Giphy, a stock image search platform, following a divestiture order from the UK's antitrust authority, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Shutterstock, an online stock image marketplace, announced that it is acquiring Giphy from Meta for $53 million. That's about $315 million less than the $415.8 million that Meta reportedly paid for Giphy in 2020, and the company said it expects to close all acquisition and sale talks within the next month.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has said that the top companies in artificial intelligence in the future will create will create personal digital agents that can perform specific tasks on behalf of humans. On February 22, a photo circulated on Twitter showing an explosion on the grounds of the Pentagon, a U.S. Department of Defense building in Arlington County, Virginia. The photo was shared on Russian state media outlet RT, as well as on financial media outlet Zerohedge's account, which received a "blue check," an official account verification mark. However, it turned out to be a false image created by artificial intelligence (AI). Once the photo was revealed to be false, the Twitter accounts that shared it either deleted the post or tweeted a correction. This incident raises concerns about misinformation spread by AI.
