Wood shared this news via LinkedIn on Wednesday. Wood, who joined AWS in 2010, has played a pivotal role since the early days of cloud computing. He contributed to the launch of key services such as Lambda, Kinesis, and SageMaker, focusing particularly on data, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. As a prominent speaker for AWS, Wood has participated in every 'AWS re:Invent conference' since 2012. He has led the industrial application of AI technology, working closely with AWS's major clients such as the NFL and NASA. Before joining Amazon, Wood earned a Ph.D. in machine learning. He was promoted to Vice President of Machine Learning and Business Intelligence in 2016, and then to Vice President of AI in 2022. Reflecting on his departure, Wood expressed pride in "helping to put technology that was once out of reach into the hands of every developer and business, contributing to the reinvention of entire industries."
