Apple has begun rolling out its latest operating systems, iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, for iPhones, iPads, and other compatible devices. The update introduces a new design language called “Liquid Glass,” along with a redesigned Phone app, real-time call translation via “Live Translate,” a polls feature in the Messages app, customizable lock screen options, and adjustable snooze times for alarms, among other features. However, not all older devices are supported. The iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, all released in 2018, have been dropped from the update eligibility list. These models, which had continued to receive updates until last year, will no longer be supported. iOS 26 is available for the iPhone SE (second generation and later), the latest iPhone 17 lineup, and the newly unveiled iPhone Air. On the iPad side, the update supports the iPad Pro (M4), iPad Air (third generation and later, including M2 and M3 models), iPad (eighth generation and later, including A16), and iPad mini (fifth generation and later, including the A17 Pro). Apple said the update enhances both visual consistency and user experience, recommending that users with compatible devices install it to take advantage of the latest features.
