Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed generative AI platform that was unveiled in April and is available to a limited number of customers and testers. It offers out-of-the-box access to AWS' own large-scale language model (LLM), Amazon Titan, as well as foundation models including StableDiffusionXL 1.0, Jurassic-2, Coherent Command and Embed, and Claude2.

According to Synergy Research Group, the global cloud market share figures for Q2 are Amazon, Alibaba, IBM, Google, and Microsoft. These five cloud leaders accounted for more than 70% of the global market in the second quarter of 2023. John Dinsdale, principal analyst at Nudge Research Group, said "Amazon and Google's share grew slightly in Q2, while Microsoft's share declined," said John Dinsdale, principal analyst at Nudge Research Group, "In terms of the relative size of their cloud operations, Microsoft is now twice the size of Google and Amazon is nearly as large as the other two combined."

In 2021, Kracht, an inspector with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, was conducting an investigation into a Tacoma Amazon warehouse when he was forced to stop by an internal employee. About 1,000 workers in the warehouse were threatened by conveyor belts and other industrial equipment. Amazon is currently in litigation with Washington's workplace safety regulator over employee safety measures. If Amazon loses the case, it will have to remodel the warehouse from the ground up.

In April of last year, the EU began legislating the Digital Services Act (DSA), which was agreed by the European Parliament and EU member states to regulate online platforms. The main focus of the DSA is to prevent the indiscriminate reproduction of false information and hate speech through online platforms. The Regulatory Guide for Platform Operators identifies platforms with annual revenues in excess of €6.5 billion and 45 million users in more than three EU countries as gatekeepers. In effect, it takes aim at U.S. platform giants like Amazon, Google, and Meta. Prior to the full implementation of the Digital Services Act, Amazon was the first to file a complaint of unfair enforcement. Amazon challenged its classification as a very large online platform (VLOP), arguing that the regulation applies to companies that rely on advertising as their primary source of revenue and distribute voice and information.

재시 CEO는 “대부분의 사람들이 응용(애플리케이션)에 초점을 맞추고 있다고 생각한다. 챗GPT와 같은 것들이 모든 사람들의 AI에 대한 인지도를 높였다. 하지만 나는 생성 AI가 세 개의 매크로 계층을 가지고 있다고 생각한다. 나는 그들 모두가 정말 크고 중요하다고 생각한다”고 말했다. 그러면서 지난 수개월간 세상을 떠들썩하게 만든 생성 AI(GAI) 챗봇을 둘러싼 유행현상에 대해 “‘실질 사이클(substance cycle)’이전의 ‘과장된 사이클(hype cycle)’”이라고 깎아내렸다.
