Apple shares fell more than 3% trading on Tuesday, giving the iPhone maker a market capitalization under $2 trillion for the first time since May. Apple is the last big company to give up its $1.99 trillion valuation. Apple struggled with iPhone 14 Pro shipments during the holiday season because of Covid restrictions on its primary factory in China.

중국의 ‘제로 코로나’ 정책에 지친 애플이 '탈 중국' 속도를 가속화하는 것으로 알려졌다. 중국을 공급망에서 배제하려는 미국의 움직임과 맞물려 중국 내 생산기지를 인도와 베트남으로 이동한다는 포석이다. 월스트리트저널(WSJ)은 3일(현지시간) 애플이 대만 폭스콘 등 협력업체에 “다른 아시아 국가에서 생산을 늘려 달라는 입장을 전달했다”고 보도했다.

Apple has launched its new Emergency SOS via Satellite function with the release of iOS 16.1. The feature allows iPhone 14 users to contact emergency services using satellite connectivity if no cellular or WiFi connections are available. The function was tested in Alaska after a man became stranded in a rural area. The service is available in most regions, including North America and Europe, and is free for two years.
