Google has been embroiled in yet another antitrust lawsuit over its search engine. An antitrust trial has begun against the company by Epic Games, the maker of the popular game Fortnite.

Epic Games has lost its case against Apple's App Store payment methods. The Fortnite developer asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to overturn a ruling that delayed an injunction against Apple's app store rules. The court denied the request without explanation. For the past three years, the two companies have been battling over in-app purchases on iOS. Epic drew the ire of Apple (and Google) when it revealed that mobile Fortnite players could get discounts on V-Bucks, an in-game commodity, by bypassing the iOS and Android payment systems. Apple and Google take up to 30% of in-app transactions on iOS and Android as fees.

Apple has finally won its appeal of an antitrust lawsuit filed by Epic Games. In August 2020, Epic Games introduced its own payment system for its game Fortnite to circumvent Apple's policy of charging up to 30% fees for using its payment system. Apple subsequently kicked the company out of the App Store, and Epic Games promptly filed an antitrust lawsuit alleging that Apple violated federal antitrust laws by prohibiting third-party app markets on its operating system (OS). In 2021, a California court upheld a trial court's decision that Apple's App Store business did not violate antitrust laws. The antitrust case ended in a "complete victory" for Apple.
