Reuters reported on December 4, 2023, that Intel, an American semiconductor company, won an appeal in a patent infringement lawsuit against VLSI Technology, overturning a $2.8 billion verdict. According to Reuters, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit overturned a lower court ruling that ordered Intel to pay VLSI Technology $2.18 billion in damages. This is one of the largest patent law rulings in U.S. history.

Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger delivered a keynote address today at Intel Innovation 2023, the company's annual developer event in San Jose, Calif. Intel today announced the general availability of the 5th Gen Xeon Scalable Processors (Emerald Rapids) on December 14th. The 5th Gen Xeon Scalable Processors are based on the P (Performance) Cores of the 13th Gen Core processors and are the last server products to be produced on the Intel 7 process. Most notably, it is socket-wise compatible with 4th Gen Xeon Scalable Processors, reducing time to market. It will also offer a combination of improved performance and faster memory to data centers around the world, the company said.
