Apple has finally won its appeal of an antitrust lawsuit filed by Epic Games. In August 2020, Epic Games introduced its own payment system for its game Fortnite to circumvent Apple's policy of charging up to 30% fees for using its payment system. Apple subsequently kicked the company out of the App Store, and Epic Games promptly filed an antitrust lawsuit alleging that Apple violated federal antitrust laws by prohibiting third-party app markets on its operating system (OS). In 2021, a California court upheld a trial court's decision that Apple's App Store business did not violate antitrust laws. The antitrust case ended in a "complete victory" for Apple.
