미국 퀀텀스케이프(QuantumScape)가 독자 개발한 전(全)고체 배터리를 독일 폭스바겐 차량에 적용한 결과 95% 이상의 용량을 유지하면서 1000회 이상의 충전 주기를 달성했다. 주행거리가 500~600km인 전기차인 경우 이 차량의 총 주행 거리가 50만km 이상에 해당한다는 의미다. 폭스바겐 그룹은 자사 전기차 모델에 이 전고체 배터리를 적용한 주행 테스트 결과 이같이 확인했으며, 이 과정에서 뚜렷한 거리 손실도 없었다고 밝혔다.

Volkswagen's ID lineup is pretty well fleshed out by now, with vehicles ranging from the ID.2all compact to the ID.4 crossover — but where are the enthusiast vehicles? VW has answered that question with the ID.GTI concept, an electric hot hatch that will eventually head to production. Much like original GTI that inspired it (the "I" no longer stands for injection but "intelligence"), it's a sporty, compact hatch that looks fast standing still. Size-wise, it's shorter but taller than the current Golf GTI, with slightly more interior volume. The ID.GTI is based on (and strongly resembles) the ID.2all compact, adding features like 20-inch wheels, front, side and rear spoilers, a rear diffuser, a honeycomb grill, striped graphics, LED fog lights and more.

Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its latest concept vehicle. Named GEN.TRAVEL, it is a battery electric “Level 5” autonomous device that the company describes as an Innovation Experience Vehicle. The inelegantly named GEN.TRAVEL will provide a Mobility as a Service experience for up to four pampered passengers. To hear Volkswagen tell it, the concept could be a dandy substitute for short-range air travel or maybe as an alternative to the Nightjet high-speed train service coming to parts of Europe.
