The U.S.-based online retailer offered a pledge not to use nonpublic data about sellers on its marketplace, after the EU accused Amazon of violating competition law by using nonpublic information from merchants to compete against them.

The European Commission said Qualcomm paid billions of dollars to Apple to use only its chips in all its iPhones and iPads. The General Court, Europe’s second-highest, annulled the EU finding and faulted the Commission over the handling of the case.

A new forum for the U.S. and European Union to settle differences on trade and technology policy has taken on added significance following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with supporters positioning it as a model for broader cooperation among free-market democracies. The U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council had its first meeting in Pittsburgh last fall, which participants said helped forge ties that proved critical when the two economies joined forces to impose sanctions on Russia following its Feb. 24 assault on Ukraine.

EU, "충전기 'USB-C' 표준화 해야"

The EU is fighting to make USB-C charging the standard on portable devices. The hope is for people to only have one charger for all of their small and medium-sized device. This would include smartphones, tablets, and headphones, among others. There would be exceptions for devices too small for a USB- C port, like smart watches.
