A US attorney is in trouble for unauthorized citations of OpenAI's artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT. The attorney quoted output from ChatGPT in court documents, which was not the opinion of a real legal expert. Since the issue has been made public, legal authorities have been seriously considering the legal status of artificial intelligence and how it can be appropriately used in legal services. As of now, there are no instances where AI is permitted to directly provide legal advice. This incident emphasizes the need for ethical and legal guidelines on the use of AI.
