Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is experiencing access delays and errors for some users due to a data center outage. According to market monitoring site DownDetector, more than 5,000 users had reported issues accessing X as of 4:00 PM ET on the 22nd. X’s official engineering account stated, “Some users are experiencing performance issues, which are due to a data center outage.” The technical team is currently working to resolve the issue. X also experienced a major outage in March, during which CEO Elon Musk blamed a cyberattack. However, security experts later pointed to weak server security on X’s part as the root cause. As of 6:30 PM on the 22nd, some users were still experiencing access issues, although the number of reports had decreased from the peak at 3:40 PM. The platform has not released any further updates since its initial announcement.
