Panasonic could start mass production of larger capacity batteries for Tesla next year, boosting the range by 15 percent. The battery is twice as big as previous versions and has a fivefold increase in energy capacity. The company is investing around 80 billion yen ($704 million) on new equipment to make the batteries.
