The US Department of Commerce expressed concerns that China's increased mature-node semiconductor production could weaken US suppliers' competitiveness through pricing pressure. More than two-thirds of US companies' products utilize chips produced in Chinese foundries. The US recently announced new export controls limiting China's advanced chip manufacturing capabilities, to which China retaliated by banning exports of key minerals used in chip production to the US. The escalating semiconductor trade war between both nations raises concerns about disruptions to international supply chains.
