China has established a national AI industry investment fund worth 60 billion yuan ($8.2 billion) in Shanghai. This move is interpreted as a strategic response to the United States' advanced semiconductor export controls and trade sanctions. The newly established investment fund is a joint venture between state-backed investment institutions and the integrated circuit industry investment fund, aiming to conduct general stock investments and asset management related to AI. According to the China International Capital Corporation, China's AI market is projected to grow to 5.6 trillion yuan by 2030. In response to recent US restrictions on AI technology exports and blacklist measures, China is actively pursuing AI as a key national strategic industry. Particularly, with the US Department of Commerce adding Chinese tech companies like Zhipu AI and Sophgo to the Entity List, the technological hegemony competition between the two countries has become increasingly acute.
