Apple is now moving forward with plans to move its iPhone series battery manufacturing plant from China to India. Analysts say the move is an acceleration of the company's pivot to China to mitigate the risk of a US-China conflict, It also reportedly includes a plan to increase smartphone sales in India, a country with an estimated 1.43 billion people as of May 2023. The U.K.'s Financial Times reported on Nov. 6 (local time), citing internal sources, that Apple is looking to manufacture the lithium-ion batteries for its upcoming iPhone 16 in an Indian factory.

Tesla will supply Megapacks to a new $500 million large-scale energy storage project in Arizona with Strata Clean Energy. Today, Strata announced that it has signed a 20-year tolling agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS) for a large new 255 MW/1 GWh battery storage project in Phoenix, Arizona. The project, called Scatter Wash Battery Storage, will be built, owned and operated by Strata.

Tesla's Japanese supplier Panasonic will not be able to begin mass production of 4680 battery cells for Tesla before March 2024 as originally planned. "In order to introduce performance improvement measures that will further strengthen our competitiveness, we have changed the schedule so that mass production will begin during the first half of March 25, 2025," Panasonic said in its earnings release, referring to the first half of its fiscal year ending March 2025.
