구글, 인공지능 슈퍼컴퓨터 'TPU v4'공개... "성능은 엔비디아 능가"

구글이 5일(현지시간) 인공지능 슈퍼컴퓨터 '텐서 프로세싱 유니트 TPU v4(Tensor Processing Unit)'를 공개했다. 구글 경쟁 제품의 엔비디아 A100 반도체를 겨냥해 “1.2~1.7배 더 빠르고 전력 소모량은 30~90% 적다”라면서 “이런 성능과 확장성, 가용성 덕에 TPU v4는 (AI용) 대형 언어모델을 이끌어갈(학습시킬) 수 있다”고 전했다.

Google announced a new account deletion policy for Android apps today. The company said that apps that offer account creation must have an easy way to delete the account. Google said that it will start enforcing this policy sometime early next year. This move follows Apple, which implemented a similar policy on June 30, 2022.

Google published details about its AI supercomputer on Wednesday, saying it is faster and more efficient than competing Nvidia systems. While Nvidia dominates the market for AI model training and deployment, with over 90%, Google has been designing and deploying a chip, called Tensor Processing Unit, for artificial intelligence since 2016, partially for internal use.

구글이 비용 절감을 위해 피트니스 클래스, 스테이플러, 테이프, 노트북 교체 서비스 등 직원들의 복지 서비스를 대폭 줄이고 있다. 지난해 1월 대규모 해고를 단행한 이후 나온 추가 조치다. CNBC는 3일(현지시간) 루스 포라트 구글 CFO(최고재무책임자)가 지난달 31일 회사 임직원에게 보낸 이메일에서 '회사 차원의 영속적인 절약에 관한 OKR(목표 및 핵심 결과 지표)'라는 제목으로 "업계 최고의 혜택과 사무실 편의 시설에 대한 높은 기준은 앞으로도 지속될 것"이라고 언급했다고 전했다.

Google is cutting back on fitness classes, staplers, tape and laptop replacements for employees. Google’s finance chief Ruth Porat recently said in a rare companywide email that the company is making cuts to employee services. The company said in January that it was eliminating 12,000 jobs, representing about 6% of its workforce.
