메타 플램폼, 애플 그리고 아마존과 구글 모기업 알파벳, 스냅 등 미국 빅테크 업체가 지난 분기 실적을 금주 잇달아 발표한다. 메타는 작년 4분기 실적을 2월 1일 발표하고 애플과 아마존, 알파벳은 2월 2일 분기 매출과 이익 성적표를 투자자들에게 공개할 계획이다. 실적 발표에 이어 가장 큰 이슈는 작년부터 이어진 성장 둔화와 빅테크 기업의 추가 감원 여부이다.

Analysts expect Apple to post its first year-over-year revenue decline since 2019′s March quarter when it reports earnings on Thursday. There are a few contributing factors. The company couldn’t build enough of its high-end iPhones when its primary assembly facility in China was shut down for weeks during Covid lockdowns. Customers in many regions noticed as early as November that Apple couldn’t promise Christmas delivery of a new iPhone.

애플의 지난해 4분기 세계 스마트폰 출하량이 전년 동기에 비해 20% 가까이 급감한 것으로 나타났다. 26일(현지시간) 블룸버그통신에 따르면 시장조사업체 IDC가 집계한 지난해 4분기 세계 스마트폰 출하량은 3억 30만대로 전년 동기보다 18.3% 줄었다.

Global smartphone shipments plunged in the fourth quarter of 2022 — usually a big holiday shopping period — thanks to macroeconomic weakness and soft consumer demand, according to market research firm IDC. Electronics firms shipped 300.3 million smartphones in the October to December quarter, an 18.3% year-over-year fall, IDC said in a report published late Wednesday. The drop marks the largest-ever decline in a single quarter.

마이크로소프트와 아마존이 어닝 시즌을 앞두고 잇다른 인력 구조조정을 발표하면서 빅테크 업계에 ‘감원 칼바람’이 불고 있다. 이를 계기로 지난해 3분기 실적을 통해 드러난 빅테크의 실적 악화 전망이 현실화하는 것이 아니냐는 관측이 나온다. 18일(현지시간) CNBC에 따르면 아마존은 이날부터 직원들에게 해고 통보를 시작했다. 이달 초 예고했던 대로 인사, 매장 부문을 중심으로 1만 8000명 규모의 정리해고가 본격화한 것이다.
