미국의 전기차 제조사 테슬라가 자율주행 및 내비게이션 정확도를 높일 수 있는 다중 대역 정밀 GPS 안테나에 대한 특허를 출원했다. 선루프와 룸미러 사이에 내장하는 형식이다.

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba and electric vehicle startup Xpeng are opening a computing center to train software for driverless cars, the two companies said Tuesday. Xpeng will use technology from Alibaba’s cloud division for its computing needs. For Xpeng, the move marks its ambitions to pull ahead in the fiercely competitive electric vehicle market in China and attempt to challenge giants Tesla and Warren Buffett-backed BYD. Alibaba, an investor in Xpeng, has been trying to bolster its cloud computing division amid a slowdown in its core commerce business.

현대차, 자율주행 스타트업 '42dot' 인수

Hyundai Motor is in talks to buy South Korea-based 42dot, a lidar-free autonomous mobility platform. The automaker currently owns a 20.4% stake in the three-year-old startup. 42dot's co-founder and chief executive Chang-Hyeon Song also leads the transportation-as-a-service (TaaS) team at Hyundai.

포니.에이아이, 중국서 자율주행 로보트럭 출시 계획

Self-driving tech start-up Pony.ai announced Thursday it plans to mass produce autonomous driving trucks in China with equipment manufacturing giant Sany Heavy Industry. Small-scale deliveries are set to begin this year and next, with mass production set to start in 2024, according to a release. Companies from Daimler to Walmart are testing self-driving trucks.

바이두, 2025년 중국 65개 도시에 자율주행 로보택시 서비스

중국 바이두가 운전자가 필요 없는 레벨4 수준의 완전자율주행 로보택시 아폴로 RT6를 공개했다. 4만달러 이하 시판가에 오는 2023년 하반기 출시한다는 목표다. 바이두를 아폴로 RT6를 활용해 2025년까지 중국 65개 도시에서 로보택시 서비스를 제공할 계획이다.

Baidu says, the RT6's detachable steering wheel could be replaced by extra seats, vending machines, desks or games consoles. Each Apollo RT6 would cost 250,000 yuan (£31,000) - significantly less than previous models, Baidu said. "This massive cost reduction will enable us to deploy tens of thousands of [automated vehicles] across China," co-founder and chief executive Robin Li told the company's annual technology conference.

안드레 카파시 테슬라 AI 총괄이사가 테슬라를 떠난다고 밝혔다. 안드레 카피사 이사의 퇴사는 최근 테슬라의 AI 부문 감축과 관련이 있다. 테슬라는 지난 6월 말 캘리포니아주 오토파일럿 개발 지원 사무실 폐쇄하고 해당 사무실에 근무하는 200명의 직원들과 계약을 종료한다고 밝혔다.

애플이 여러 난항에도 자율주행 전기차 개발을 포기하지 않고 있다. 특히 조나선 아이브의 참여로 핸들 및 브레이크 페달 없는 파격적 디자인을 반영하는 등 오는 2025년 출시를 목표로 개발을 꾸준히 진행하고 있다는 소식이다.

테슬라, 도로 스캔 기능 업데이트 공개

Tesla has introduced a software update that scans for potholes in its cars. The update will trigger the adaptive suspension in supported vehicles to adjust the ride height for more comfort. The ride adjustment will only work in Tesla Model S and Model X cars with adaptive suspensions. It's not clear if the Model 3 or Y vehicles also scan for rough roads.

미국 도로교통안전국(NHTSA)이 레벨2 수준의 운전자보조시스템(ADAS) 관련 안전 보고서를 발표했다. 총 400건의 충돌사고 중 273건의 사고가 테슬라 차량에서 발생했다. 관련 사고 근절과 예방을 위한 보다 세밀한 조사와 조치가 필요하다는 것이 NHTSA의 입장이다.

민간 주도의 로봇산업 활성화와 이에 따른 정부 규제혁파의 로드맵2.0이 나온다. 산업통상자원부는 9일 로봇산업 활성화 관련 규제 개선사항 발굴을 위해 산·학·연 전문가들이 주도하는 '로봇산업 규제개선 민간협의체'를 출범시키고, 관계부처와 로봇산업 선제적 규제혁신 로드맵2.0을 올해 하반기에 수립하겠다는 계획을 밝혔다.
