Apple has banned the use of ChatGPT due to concerns about corporate data leakage through generative AI. In the U.S., Apple was followed by financial institution JPMorgan Chase and telecommunications company Verizon, among others. However, Amazon is using ChatGPT to complement its own AI tools.

WWDC23에선 그동안 출시 소문이 무성했던 대형 HW가 발표될 것으로 예상돼 그 어느 때보다도 이목을 집중시키고 있다. 화제의 초점은 단연 수년 전부터 기대를 모으던 애플의 혼합현실(증강/가상현실)(MR·AR/VR) 헤드셋이다. 현재 애플이 헤드셋 외에 어떠한 HW 제품을 출시할 것이라는 징후는 없다. 하지만 일각에서는 새로운 맥프로나 맥북에어를 거론한다.

애플이 연례개발자회의를 앞두고 아이폰에 업데이트될 몇 가지 혁신적인 기능을 공개했다. 퍼스널보이스는 사용자의 목소리를 합성해 디지털 복제 음성을 만들 수 있으며, 라이브스피치는 합성된 음성으로 가족이나 지인에 전화를 걸어 통화할수 있도록 한다. 해당 기능들은 인지, 시각, 청각 등 장애가 있는 사용자들이 보다 아이폰을 손쉽게 사용할수 있도록 도울 전망이다.

Apple has charged a former Apple engineer with stealing self-driving car technology and fleeing to China. Weibao Wang, a Chinese national and former Apple engineer, was indicted in Northern California in 2017 on charges that he stole thousands of documents containing source code for software and hardware related to Apple's self-driving car technology while employed at Apple. He had worked as an Apple engineer since March 2016, and was trained on company rules prohibiting the transfer of confidential company data and intellectual property when he was hired.

알파벳(구글), 마이크로소프트(MS), 메타(페이스북) 등 빅테크 기업들이 지난달 1분기 실적 발표장에서 향후 사업과 관련, 생성형 인공지능(AI) 육성 및 투자 방향을 곳곳에서 제시해 주목됐다. 거의 모든 IT업계가 산업 패러다임을 바꿀 만한 이 흐름에 대응하기 위해 분주한 모습이지만 AI 선발업체라 할 애플은 좀 달라 보인다. 팀 쿡 최고경영자(CEO)는 4일 분기실적 발표장에서 (생성형)AI 개발에 대한 신중히 접근해야 하며, 이미 애플 제품에 많은 AI를 사용하고 있다고 대답하는 데 그친 것이다.

애플, 아이패드 Final Cut Pro & Logic Pro 구독제로 출시

Apple has announced the availability of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad. Final Cut Pro & Logic Pro are professional-grade programs used in professional video editing and music editing. Previously available only to macOS users, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are now available for the iPad series equipped with an M1 processor or higher. Both apps will be available on iPad starting May 23 for $4.99 per month or $49 per year.

애플, 위젲 중심 'watchOS' 개편 중

Apple is reportedly working on the most significant software overhaul to watchOS in recent memory. Apple has revealed that it is redesigning the user interface of the Apple Watch to make widgets a "central part" of how you interact with the wearable. In describing the new UI, the company said it's bringing back elements of the Glances system that was originally part of watchOS, while also borrowing the "style" of the widgets introduced with iOS 14 last year.
